Fashion Games Changed My Life For The Better!

 

Fashion games were the beginning of my love for designing. Yes, many forms of media have sparked interest, but Stardoll, GirlGoGames, Myscene, MovieStarPlanet, and many more are the reasons for the love of fashion. This isn't per se a history lesson, but a revisiting of all the sites I grew up loving. If you want more information on the start and decline of these websites, YouTube is filled with many girls like me who were defined by these sites. That can give you more information that you need.
starting from my favorite dress-up games. Let's talk about Stardoll, it was the fashion game! It was a really popular game in the 2000s. I mean dressing up your favorite celebrities in paper doll form. Getting to pretend you're a fashion stylist. I dressed Selena Gomez so many times! than getting into my fashion design bag, you could design clothes and furniture to sell to real players. So many fun gadgets on the site. It was stacked with so much to do. You could even create a magazine, while also featuring real clothing brands to dress the models in. I recently got back on Stardoll, but realized it's really empty. Still fun if you only care about creating clothing and makeup looks.

 GirlGoGames. It was a website filled with mini flash games created in 2007 that had every girly game you could think of. Of course, my favorites were the Dress-up games. I miss how great Flash games were in the 2000s. You can find a lot of them on random websites, but it's never the same. Whether it's the quality or the loss of activities it once had when Adobe Flash was still used. That time when computer games dominated is probably long gone. It definitely makes me think about the last day I ran the website, and I slowly forgot it existed.  I believe people would be happier if these games were as popular as before. Might not be a lot of sites like GirlGOGames, but Roblox definitely has kept the dress-up games alive with Dress to Impress. Maybe the fashion girls are alright. When you search GirlGoGames, the site still has dress-up games, but none that I remembered playing.

Moviestarplanet was so elite. Another 2000s game that had so much lore! (pumpchkin needs to reveal itself! iykyk)  The clothes on there were so good. Honestly, I would wear all of them in real life. MSP was a little different from Stardoll. While Stardoll was more centered around modeling, MSP was based on making short movies and gaining fame from them. You still could make clothes and dress up your avatar. Which is probably why I grew up wanting to be famous for just wearing clothes.  Anyway, MSP is still a big reason for my love of fashion. I get on there from time to time. But just like Stardoll, its popularity has drastically gone down. 
Some honorable mentions for other sites I loved, Myscene, ofcourse it went along with the doll collection that I also had. Mentioning dolls, we can't forget the Barbie and Bratz websites that included physical media to go with it. Barbie had a mp3 player that was interchangeable, and Bratz had a pink, cute keychain USB you had to put in your desktop to create an account. They were really popular, at least that's what I remembered.
These games were a huge part of my childhood; they definitely kept me occupied as a child. Makes me wonder who'd I be if I had never discovered these games. I'm constantly looking for games that could replicate the excitement I had on a Saturday morning playing these sites. Just found out about a site called Oh My Dollz, I think it's old but it's new to me.
