It's one of those nights: you don't know what to wear, You're already running late, and it's no longer free to get into the club after 11. The only smart option is the Bandage Dress you've been hiding in the back of your closet. Every girl needs one for nights like this. Designed by Azzedine Alaïa. It became popular among models. Further developed by Hervé Léger. He introduced his own version in the 90s. The body-hugging silhouette has evolved into more club attire. The rise of celebrity culture has definitely shaped this.

No matter who you are, the dress 100% looks good on everybody. It's versatile for so many events. It's an instant outfit: date night, clubbing, birthday party, or red carpet. I've even seen women wear it to their college graduations. Definitely doing the same for mine. Wherever you choose to wear this bodycon piece, your outfit will be remembered. I know you're probably like, "But isn't it trendy?" That's not necessarily a bad thing! This silhouette dress has been around since the 80s. It's being introduced to a new generation, but it isn't new. So yes, the bandage dress is trendy again. But honestly? Who cares?

 You don't have to break the bank to buy one. You can find them online on eBay, Depop, The RealReal, and other secondhand websites. I've seen some priced at $50 or less. House of CB has entered the game. To be honest, though, I don't know if the price is worth it. Whatever budget you're working with, you can find one. I have a trip to New York in a couple of weeks. So I've been doing some shopping on ThredUp. I purchased two of my very own bandage dresses. One is a tan, creamy color, and the other is basic black. I can't wait to update you guys when I get some pictures in them. They aren't Hervé Léger, but I got them both for less than $20.

So yes, I think every girl needs a bandage dress in her closet. And considering I now own two, I guess I'm practicing what I preach. Now I just need somewhere in New York to wear them.

Wassup guys, a few updates! I recently got invited to be a contributor to someone else's blog! So I'll be sharing the link for that soon. Really exciting to blog with someone else for a change! Also added a new tab called "shop". If you don't know, I work in fashion. I have a clothing line called "Detroit Dinero" but I haven't launched my new collection yet. Furla Candy Bag : Classic Jelly Bag And It’s Knockoffs

Summer time is unfortunately coming to an end. Which also means it's time to talk about the trends we did or didn't participate in this season.

Jelly Bags have always been around, even though the jelly firkin is trending right now, and though I enjoy a firkin. I've been getting familiar with different brands of jelly bags. Specifically, the Furla Candy bags! The yummy bright bag has been showing up on my Pinterest. Which has me wondering: is the Furla Bag what the girls are rocking this summer?   

Emerging in 2010, founded by the Furlanetto family. These luxury bags went for $250 and higher, depending on size. They are no longer in production, but the company Furla reproduced a new line of Candy Bags in 2021. The OG ones are so cute though. So check eBay, Vinted, and Poshmark to get an original! Hopefully the ones on my wishlist stay put. Funny story: a week ago, before I knew the origins of the bag, I saw a dupe/knockoff of their glitter silver bag for $10. Yes, I got it; I mean, for ten dollars. SIGN ME UP!

Currently At The Moment

I'm getting ready for work, imagining a life I hope to soon have. Also, can I just say how good The Scream TV show is? Recently, Tubi added the show to its extensive horror catalog. Honestly, perfect to wind down this summer slasher movie run I've been on. I'm dreading leaving for work today. It's the weekend, you know? Working on making myself feel a little more excited before work. I worked out this morning. A 30-minute insanity video, which was pure insanity. Sprayed my room with a nice scent and made myself a breakfast sandwich. I'm focusing on getting in a better mindset; I believe that's a big part of really shifting my life. Anyway, this was my CATM... Hope your weekend is filled with a good time.

Keep Calm And Bring Back 2014-2016! I'm old enough now!

Thinking about that youtube/tumblr 2014/2016 era. Honestly, I miss it so much! How saturated the videos were, bright and just so carefree. Don't even get me started on the DIYs (I'm talking about you, laurdiy). I was a huge YouTube preteen, then a teen, and now an adult. Seeing how much YouTube has changed now is a little sad. Also makes me wonder: was it just because I was basically a kid watching it?

For the past couple of days, I've been watching Niki and Gabi, Alisha Marie, Teala Dunn, and so many favs who made that time so great! So I can tell you, whatever was in the water back then was absolutely 10x better. I wonder if the change is mostly because of short-form content. Anyway, collab videos and channels were my favorite videos. I was in a really brief collab channel on YouTube when I was younger. I don't remember the name of the channel. And I don't know how to find the channel. That's the story of my really short-lived YouTube career.

The DIY room decor, from the tie-dyed shorts. I somehow bought my own tapestry and fairy lights with no job during this time. (Honestly thinking about bringing them back) My room could use some more pop right now! Looking back at the Tumblr decor videos, everything was so much fun, also sometimes random lol. Everything was floral or galaxy print. With the slogan "Keep Calm..." Slapped on everything.

The Makeup! I mean baddie makeup is definitely what I'm trying to master learning right now! The very defined eyebrows, bold lip with extra extra extraaa highlight! With a nasty smoky eye. The makeup tutorials during this time seemed so straight to the point.

What The Hell Did I Do Last Night?

 

Dealing with your hungover, embarrassing nights, regretting that last shot that took you over the edge. Wondering to yourself, omg, what did I do? Or what the hell was I thinking? Honestly, because I wasn't. I've been trying not to overthink my embarrassing moments. But that makes me wonder. How many of us let these moments linger in our minds? Cringing to ourselves for the next two weeks, just hoping it’s not as bad as it seems. I’m still learning, so this isn’t an advice post. Just realizing most of us have felt the same way.  A universal feeling I’ll unfortunately probably experience again. 🙃

Ways I get over embarrassment, honestly, the first thing to do

1. Admit to yourself you were being crazy, a little weird. Who cares! I promise the same people you embarrassed yourself in front of have done the same or worse.

2. Give it time; yeah, the next day it's fresh on everyone's mind, maybe even the next three. After a week or two, the cringyness starts to fade. 

3. Apologize if you've done something that warrants an apology. 

4. Last thing, understand you're human who's sometimes going to do really dumb things you might not even remember.

Hi Everybody!

Welcome to a new month! As of today, it's close to 200 of you following the lifestyle of a divapunk! I'm so excited to share more with you about my life, fashion, and the media I consume. I want to make this quick; I have two new things being added to my site! Later today, a new page has been added: tutorials for this blog, including the lined paper tutorial. The next thing I'm working on includes you!

To the right of my site, I've added a mailbox/contact form for you to fill out. I want to know more about the people who read my blog. So for August, I'm adding a "divapunk reader column." I want you guys to fill out this form on a topic I pick. I also understand some people might want to remain anonymous. And I'll make sure anyone willing to share will remain just that. This month I want you to remind me of a time you felt most confident. For me, I would say when I'm usually with my family. They make me laugh the most, protect me, and always make me feel the most comfortable in myself. 

More surprises to come; I'm working on my styling portfolio. Trying to see if any readers would want a free digital styling. If that's something you're interested in, I've added a separate form you can fill out.
