IT'S HALLOWEEN

It's the most wonderful time of the year...Halloween! What costume did you wear this year? I was a cat again for the 3rd time this year and, of course, my monster house costume. I plan to post all the photos here soon. I realized I wasn't as festive as I usually am. I did decorate my bedroom, but I usually decorate my whole house. Didn't go to any haunted houses or cider mills. All of my usual activities that made this holiday so great.

My movie/TV list was very long, and I watched a ton of films that got me into the spirit. I don't know why this Halloween felt so different, maybe because we didn't throw a party this year like I usually do. Last year I prepared the Coraline dinner for my family Halloween party. fyi, it was the first time I ever made macaroni. SO I was super nervous. Anyway, I still had a great Halloween.

It was filled with reunions on the street with people from my past. My sister and I met up with our friend. Hanging out with my friends is always fun, even though we were extremely late. Still made the night eventful.

Stay spooky, eat some candy, and happy Halloween!

Halloween is next week, and I have so much left to do! I need to sew a skirt for my Avril Lavigne duo costume I'm doing with my cousin. I also have to finish building my monster house costume for actual Halloween. I have to finish thrifting parts of the costume and do my hair all before Wednesday next week. I hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew. Seriously! If I schedule my time a little better, I'm sure I can get a lot done. Wish me luck!

An Apple A Day....

I've been trying to get up early enough to make a healthy breakfast and work out before work. I honestly used to make an apple, granola, and Greek yogurt bowl every morning. I don't know why I stopped. When it comes to working out, I've been doing a lot of Shaun T and Tae Bo videos on YouTube. Staying consistent with what I eat and working out is honestly hard when you have a full-time job that already drains you some days. I worked all day yesterday, so I didn't do my YouTube video. After work today, I'm going to force myself to complete my Tae Bo ab workout. I'm going to make a morning routine. May make getting up a little more fun for me. I feel like I have to romanticize a bit of my life. Anyway, I'll keep you updated on my journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Michael Jackson's....Ghost Is His Best Short Film

Michael Jackson's Thriller is definitely played/watched every Halloween. The reigning champ of the Halloween song. One of my favorites by MJ. I love it for the costume design, makeup, and direction. But it's no longer my #1. I'll raise you one: Michael Jackson created another masterpiece that can stand next to Thriller, but I would even say I prefer "Ghost" over it. I have to be honest, I only discovered this masterpiece during quarantine. I was shocked to find out MJ had another spooky short film.

The 40-minute film follows an outsider with supernatural abilities now forced out by the mayor. Written by Stephen King & Mick Garris. This film features the songs "2bad", "Is It Scary," and the title song "Ghosts". The dance scenes are some of my favorites from the legend; some of his best. He really sells the acting in this film. Going in to watch this film with no knowledge of the story, I was shocked to find out MJ played the mayor.

The theatrics when you're first introduced to the "family". I mean, the wind itself blowing deserves an award. I don't know why The King of Pop loves zombies and ghouls so much, but anytime you see him and a few behind him, just know it's about to be magic. Every dance sequence was perfectly choreographed. Ballet and hip hop moves only the great late Michael could do. He makes every move his own. I mean, I definitely try to do some of them while playing Just Dance: Michael Jackson Experience. The story I feel anyone can relate to

Getting into the fashion...

The simple button-up top, ruffled shirt, or pirate shirt. Is worn for the full movie. The Victorian looks were perfect for the mansion MJ took place in for the entire film. I loved how the shirt moved through every dance; a simple look but classic nonetheless. The addictive dance sequences, music, and storyline make it another great film. I make sure to watch it every Halloween.

Anyway, what would you choose: Thriller or Ghosts?

How I'm Going To Create My Own Luck!

Today I saw a TikTok video that really stopped me in my tracks. It was about self-belief, rejection, and how much luck you can create in 30 days. Delusion has helped me in lots of ways. Writing on Blogger and uploading my TikToks. Sometimes I get into my own head, and every ounce of doubt grows bigger and bigger. I can only say how hard it's been to force myself to go through with tasks. How much luck could you generate on purpose in 30 days? Guess that's what I'm trying to found out.

I don't know if I'll do this for the next 30 days, but I do plan to be delusionally unafraid! I need to make a list of tasks I can give myself.  1 task a day, The outcome could be a yes or a no. At least I put myself out there! Not just sitting around, but actively trying. The first step is writing a bunch of ways to shot my shot.

For the rest of October should be fun and busy. Hope your monday is filled with joy and negative energy nowhere to be found.

Detroit Very Own Horror Universe

Halloween will always be my favorite holiday for a few reasons: seasonal candy corn, the music, and of course the horror/spooky movies. I honestly can't pinpoint where my love for this season comes from. But I love everything about it!

I got curious about anything horror-related in Detroit and found out it has its own horror universe. From the 60s to the early 2000s, Detroit television was entertained with campy, spooky, funny horror hosts who shared movies locally. They would make skits as well. I honestly wish I'd had the opportunity to watch some of these when they first aired. I did find a bunch of clips on YouTube. Until then, I'll share a few of the hosts who helped shape the Detroit horror scene.

We have Sir Grave Ghastly; I believe this was one of the popular ones. It was on for about 15 years.

2. Saturday Night Dead

Not to be mistaken for SNL. But it would air right after SNL. Showing campy horror and science fiction movies from 1979 to 1981. They also parodied the SNL intro. You can find it on YouTube. Honestly, this is such a good name.

The other two shows I found have a taping together are Count Scary and the Ghoul. The Ghoul started in Cleveland, Ohio, then transitioned to Detroit TV. Count Scary is another horror movie host. This isn't really a rundown of the shows. Just wanted to share a few hosts I found cool.

The Ghoul                                     Count Scary

I can't find any full tapings of any of these shows, but YouTube has hidden gems.

I wish local TV still had fun things like this!

Horror Shows Have The Best Fall Inspo

I watch a lot of horror/spooky TV shows. So I spend a lot of my time looking at the clothes. Question of the day: Why does the horror genre have the best fall wear? Thinking about Ghost Whisperer.

Melinda Gordon always has some of the best looks on Ghost Whisperer. I genuinely wanted her clothes and her antique shop. Minus the ghost, of course. I've become interested in costume design and being able to tell the season by what she's wearing! The styling for the show was done by Joseph Porro and Dorothy Amos. I actually have a jacket just like this. I honestly should recreate it. She had the cutest looks. Layered jackets, long black jewelry, silk tops paired with pearl necklaces.

Another example of the best looks was the women we got to see in the first two seasons of Supernatural. Maybe there was something in the air during the early 2000s. The outfits on Supernatural were nonchalant, laid-back, relaxed fits. Again, with the layers, boots, and wide-leg jeans. Looking in my closet and my Pinterest mood board, I have half of these items. I mean, the women of Supernatural honestly make anything look good to be honest.
